Particulars of the Office of Superintendent, Botanical and Forestry

Department, Hong Kong.

Duties of office and qualifications required for their performance.

The officer appointed will be expected to act as adviser to Government on all forestry, botanical and agricultural matters, and to take charge of public gardens, plantations and reafforestation schemes.

He will be required to control all Government plantations, roadside trees, all other trees and wild growth of every description on Crown land,

except licensed forestry areas in the New Territories.

5. Quarters, etc.

£700 to £950 per annum by annual increments after the second year of service of seven of £30 and one of £40.

Salaries are converted for payment in local currency at a rate fixed from time to time by Government. They are at present paid at the rate of 1/3 - $1 so long as the Treasury rate of the dollar based on the average monthly rate of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank remains at or below that rate.

A deduction of 4% from salary is made as contribution to the Widows' and Orphans' Pension Scheme.

Free Government quarters are provided.

Nil.

First Class Pasaage will be provided in accordance with Colonial Regülation 81.

Three years, all of which will be probationary. This and the following paragraph do not apply in the case of an officer transferred from the permanent establishment of another Colony.
